Last week Uncharted Drake's Fortune for PS3 was released.
It took two and a half years to make this videogame.I was lucky enough to join the development team at Naughtydog seven months ago. The game is expansive,fun and beautiful. It does not have a ton of press behind it like Halo but people who have played it so far have really enjoyed it. I only had a very small part in making it happen. I did textures for props and background environments for two levels. I also did some play testing. Now that it is out, I get to post some of my work. No photos were use in the creating these textures. Textures were painted in z-brush and photoshop. I hope the environments seem inviting and that you might want to run around and find some treasures in them(while fighting off pirates). there are so many awesome big honker games out right now. i hope it does well and doesn't get lost in the crowd. if only i had a ps3...
it's insane how high budget and good looking games are getting.
i'm curious why you didn't use photos and did it all in zbrush? was that just a personal preference or was that a mandate from the higher ups?
it'd be cool to see some of the textures themselves (normal, diffuse, spec, etc...). if naughty dog will let us see em.
oh, and congrats to shaunie too! i saw his name in the credits for the Clive Barker's Jericho opening cinematic (probably the only good part of the game).
