I gots me a job.
It's for a wonderful game company in Santa Monica called Naughty Dog. They hired me on as an environmental texture artist starting next week for the game: Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.
If you are looking for work as an artist, the video game industry is growing exponentially but companies are also having more and more requirements to get your foot in the door. Besides having a nice demo reel or website, you have to take a test that requires a week of doing artwork for free before you even get an interview.
I was lucky and only did two test before I got an interview but I heard of people doing 7 before getting to see an actual person. That is 7 weeks of working for free living off noodles. If you do get an interview it is usually 2-3 hours long with 4-5 people asking you technical goo and possibly preform a task in front of them. Talk about performance anxiety ---- Yowsa!
Still it is all worth it if you love making art for a living. Painting a 3-d environment that you can walk around virtually is quite a trip.
Have a great art filled weekend:> Here is a trailer of Drake's Fortune if your interested:

come and visit me at storm!!!
hey you can email me at: smartmonkeee@yahoo.com if you feel like it,lol
tests huh? I've been on a games art course at uni for almost 2 years now and noones ever mentioned tests. I wonder if its just an american thing.
I'm still not sure which direction i want to go in vis a vis the industry personally. I'm growing to really enjoy texturing, but i also kinda want to do stuff with conceptualising too D:
